Experience Polynesia
At Lapita Hotel Dubai, guests will be transported to a Polynesian paradise with cultural performances and the traditional Ahi Ahi ritual, led by Fijian artists – classically-trained in Polynesian dance – as the sun sets across the picturesque skies above the resort.
The Ahi Ahi ceremony is a daily ritual that celebrates the resort’s Polynesian heritage by announcing the beginning of the sunset. A way to release the day and bid farewell to it as the sun goes down, the sacred Ahi Ahi ceremony begins with the blowing of a traditional conch shell – known as a Pu – and is followed by the lighting of torches to highlight the slowly setting sun. Guests can hear the rhythmic beating of the pahu, sacred drums that make for the perfect background to the powerful chanting (known as oli) as the ceremony invites everyone to reflect upon their day – everything that has been accomplished and all the things yet to be accomplished.
